On Thursday evening, December 15, 2016, at the Council Rock School Board Dr. Robert Fraser announced over $4,700 in grants from the Rick Moore Memorial Fund awarded by the Council Rock Education Foundation to Special Education and Social Studies programs in Council Rock Schools. The two grant programs selected will benefit students at Council Rock North High School and Richboro Middle School.
Both teachers will use the awards to aid technology needs in the classroom. Mr. Jack Fitzpatrick, a social studies teacher at Richboro Middle School, will support project-based learning for 7th-grade students of Richboro Middle Schools. Ms. Althea Tomlinson, a teacher at Council Rock North, will use the funding to expand her partially blended classroom to freshman students in a special education inclusion setting, preparing them for college and career through exposure to the 21st century learning environments.
Social Studies teacher Rick Moore touched the lives of thousands of students in the Council Rock School District during his 24 years of teaching After losing his battle with cancer towards the end of the 2013 school year, Mr. Moore’s students created a memorial fund to honor his legacy and passion for Social Studies and his appreciation for the Special Education services that were provided to his son Ricky at Council Rock.
